Do You Have Room For 25,000 Boxes of Mac N Cheese

Evidently, the Waukesha Food Bank does! Thank you to Kraft Foods for donating 25,000 boxes of Mac N Cheese (one our of favorite junk foods). While we won't partake in any of the 25K boxes, we will have warmer hearts for the makers of Kraft.

Using Publisher

I (Ashley) used Microsoft Publisher the first time for some district flyers. I thought the result was ok...but I can't wait to find out what other neat things I can make! Watch out, Christmas cards!

Water Softener is OUT

We have a broken water softener...repairman is coming on Thursday. Thank goodness for the "emergency" water stored in the basement!

Sleeping In

Katie has a cold, so everyone was up at 4:30am. Luckily, we were sleeping again by 5:30, and we woke up at 8:40! We're staying home from church today and listening to Focus on the Family programs. When Katie naps (probably around noon), we'll listen to some John Piper.
Here's a picture from happier times.

Date Night with Todd Agnew

Bryan's favorite musician came to the Waukesha area again! (Click here for his previous visit). We met up with the Wolniakowskis and the Weinbergs from our small group and enjoyed a GREAT concert. A band from our church (C2K) opened for Todd, and afterwards we chatted with the C2K bass player, Jim. Jim and his kids spent the afternoon playing kickball with Todd, and they REALLY enjoyed getting to know him.

Unfortunately, we did not get a picture with Mr. Agnew. He was battling the flu earlier in the week, so he didn't have a "meet & greet" time after the concert. However, we did get some great video that's we'll post once we get a faster-moving computer!

A Fun Afternoon with Gianna

Gianna (about 17 months) and Katie are getting to be good friends! (So are Ashley and Jeannie--especially if Jeannie keeps making amazing guacamole!) We walked to a park, played on the swings, and petted 2 big labradors. Then, we went back to the Pucci home where Katie had a long nap--her best nap in a while!

Drive Home

Fortunately, Katie's trip home was wonderful! We stopped twice (once for potty breaks, once for dinner at the Wisconsin Dells). Katie (and we) were glad to be back home!

A Date at The Cottage Cafe

Bryan and I went on a date to the only restaurant in Amboy. It was very cute--seated about 20 people. Tables were hard to come by for our Sunday morning brunch, so we ended up sharing a table with a couple locals. Brunch was delicious. Bryan had a typical omlet, while I ate scrambled eggs and the famous rapsberry bread pudding (made from the prior day's homemade cinnamon rolls).

Here's a picture with our waitress. She knew about us before we got to Minnesota--she helped Shannon clean her house in preparation for our visit!

Driving to Minnesota

We'll do a series of blogs on our weekend trip to Minnesota. First--getting there, we had to stop 3 times due to a dirty diaper, supper for Katie, and supper for mom and dad. Unfortunately, our trip there was difficult. Katie didn't go down for her afternoon nap and preferred to cry for 2 hours. But here's a happy Katie driving while dad gets a quick nap in. Notice hands at 11 and 3 just like in drivers ed.

We're Off to Minnesota!

This weekend, the three of us are spending the weekend in Amboy/Lake Crystal, Minnesota. Bryan's grandmother is celebrating her 90th birthday. We're staying on a pig farm with Bryan's cousin, Shannon. Maybe we'll get to see some piglets! Maybe we'll eat bacon for breakfast on Saturday!

Once we return, we'll be starting our next big project--our summer garden! Here's a taste of what we hope to see in the fall.

The Cheese Stands Alone

Much to Bryan's dismay, Katie hasn't developed a love for cheese--yet. Each time I put a small chunk of cheese on her tray along with a cracker half, she goes for the cracker. And thus the cheese sits...

Weight on Both Feet

I helped Katie get into the standing position--but once there, she can support herself for about ten seconds!

Why I'm Buying Huggies This Week

Two months ago, all the buzz on baby blogs was about the $5 printable coupon provided by Kimberly Clark (to be used on Gentle Care diapers, only: sizes newborn-size 2). I've been looking for a good sale price to combine this coupon, and I think I've found one just in time since the coupon expires on 4-17-09.

This week, CVS has Huggies jumbo packs on sale for $10. On top of that...the consumer gets $10 bonus bucks for spending $30 on Kimberly Clark products. See where I'm going? Buy 3 jumbo packs ($30) and get $10 back to use on next purchase. Use 3 $5 coupons...subtotal comes to $15 or $5 per pack. Since there are 44 size 1 diapers per pack, your price-per-diaper comes to 11 cents.

Now, here's the exciting part! Let's go through the checkout process again...using your bonus bucks! Buy 3 $10 jumbo packs for $30. Subtract your $10 in-store coupon. Use 3 $5 coupons. Total for three jumbo packs= $5 for 3 packs OR 4 cents per diaper!!! WOW!! And so goes the process again, using your bonus bucks.

Don't have a $5 Huggies coupon? Send me a SASE (self-addressed-stamped-envelope) and I will send you a copy of this coupon to use! (Yes, you can make copies since this coupon was a print-out coupon in the first place).

Don't have any babies in newborn to size 2 diapers? Buy for your next baby or stock up as baby shower gifts!

Daddy Comes Home Today!

Bryan is working as a National Board Examiner this weekend, testing students on their final (clincial) phase of becoming an optometrist. Katie and I are by ourselves this weekend but are not lonely!

Yesterday, my co-worker Ava and I went to a couple of cutsie shops in Pewaukee. Last night, 2 couples and their kids came over for Bible Study. Peyton loves balls--and he (nor his parents) care if they're kid toys or dog toys! I made dinner--spagetti sauce in a crockpot, garlic bread, salad, cheesecake and ice cream cake. Everything was delicious!

Here's Katie, waiting for Daddy to come home.

WebEx at Work

Today, my first pre-recorded class over WebEx was published for agents and staff in district 44.

The class covered basics of Microsoft Excel. Here's the outline:
  • Saving data to the H drive (shared hard drive)
  • Creating new folders on the H drive
  • Inserting and deleting rows and columns
  • Moving from cell to cell
  • Expanding and shortening cells
  • Using the "find" function
  • Using the "data-sort" function
  • How to change the page setup
  • How to change cell color

Believe it or not, the video was extremely well-received because the "more experienced" agents genuinely don't know how to use these functions. :) Go D44!

Laundry Day!

I briefly left the bedroom and came back to find this:
Yummy sock, Daddy!!

Playtime Around the House

Hide and seek with Daddy
Detroying the tower that Mommy built. Yummy block!

Yummy fingers!
